While it
is kind of obvious that I love fashion, I will be the first to admit that this blog has made me pay
wayy more attention to runway shows than I ever did.
Which basically mean that this is the first year that I've
ever checked in on whats happening during fashion weeks all over the world..
And boy, am I glad I did!
I'm learning so much about designers that I didn't know about / didn't pay much attention to (clearly a mistake, that)..
Two shows that I fell in love with from London Fashion Week were Sass & Bide and Simone Rocha - for completely different reasons.
For me, the perfect collection has that balance of art, beauty and wearability. And when you
know that the clothes will make everyone in the room sit back and pay attention, you have a winner.
While I'm hard pressed to pick a favorite, I will say that I can see myself wearing almost every piece from the Sass & Bide show..
The genius of
Sarah-Jane Clarke and Heidi Middleton
transalated into acrylic neons and clean, flowing lines, with sleek chignons and minimal make up on the runway.
If I ever win the jackpot, this is the collection I'll blow all my money on!
And yes, I believe that the team at Sass & Bide were clearly inspired by African Greys...
Come
on. Don't tell me you don't see the resemblance!
Simone Rocha was a different bird altogteher (no pun intended. Really)..
What I loved was the juxtaposition of old school lace and clear plastic...
So functional (is it a dress? is it a raincoat??
is it a lace doily??), and definitely something I'd wear if I wanted to push the envelope just a little bit...
And it wasn't just the clothes!! The clear bag with lace detailing already has me looking for the perfect wallet and make-up kit to go inside it..
And the
shoes!!!!
While I loved the idea of the plastic uppers, what
really caught my eye (and went on my
definitely-buying-come-spring list) was that pair of open-toe, lace-up wedges with a clear upper. Sigh... those shoes leave me speechless...
